WHAT IS SOCIAL STUDIES ?

Social Studies is about people with many faces and color, its about the games we play and the things we do for entertainment. Its about the food we eat and the different languages we speak. Social Studies is about our Families,our Religions and the rituals we do, traditions and how we follow them. Social Studies is about War and Politics, Countries, Cities and Villages. Social Studies is about River and Beaches, Water and the lack of Water. Social Studies is about Mountains, Canyons, Animals, and Weather. Social Studies is about Economies and the jobs we do, its about rules and how we follow them. Social Studies is about much more, but most importantly its about you and me.

The continued development of the Caribbean region will depend on the individual’s understanding of his or her roles and responsibilities in families, groups, social institutions, government, sustainable development and use of resources.
